Orchard, Vineyard & Windbreak Recycling
With the use of specialised attachments mounted on excavators, three-wheel loggers and other equipment, Africa Biomass Company is able to remove old orchards, vineyards, and windbreaks efficiently. This unwanted wood is then fed into horizontal grinders and recycled into usable wood chips.
Site Clearing &
In partnership with Môreson Grondverskuiwers, an earthmoving company, Africa Biomass Company have become experts at site clearing and preparation. An extensive range of highly specialised wood chippers and earthmoving equipment allows ABC to do any job quickly and efficiently.
SETA Certified Operator Training Facility
Registered for Fp&M SETA, as well as various other SETA institutions, Africa Biomass Company is able to provide complete wood chipper, tractor and other agricultural equipment operator training, either on-site or at ABC's training facility. After completion of the training modules, each operator will be qualified to operate any brand of wood chipper equipment.
Mulch Spreading in New & Established Plantations
Mulch is created from recycled orchards, vineyards or windbreaks and is then applied to new or existing plantations. Wood chips can be used as base to create compost or be used on its own. Africa Biomass Company's patented designed mulch spreader is used to ensure that mulch is spread evenly and efficiently in new or existing orchards.
River Rehabilitation in Riparian Zones
In the past few years, ABC has played a big part in the removal of alien invasive trees within the riparian zones in the Western Cape. By removing these unwanted alien trees, water runoff is increased, risks of bush fires are reduced, and the original fynbos and palmiet shrub systems are can return to their natural state within these zones.
Africa Biomass Company has an intimate understanding of the operational challenges of wood chippers in South Africa. Therefore, ABC has established state-of-the-art facilities and field-services for mechanics to service, repair and even rebuild wood chipper equipment of any make and size. ABC's field-services even go as far as Nigeria to assist clients with their wood chipper equipment.
Biomass for Heat or Electricity Generation
Africa Biomass Company is one of the largest wood chip producers in the world and the most experienced in Africa. Dimensional wood chips are produced from alien invasive trees in South Africa and this biomass is used in agri-industrial applications as greener alternative to coal, to produce either heat or electricity. ABC has proved that raising chicken livestock, with wood chips as a heat source, is a better and greener alternative to coal.
