Africa Biomass Company is currently recruiting for an Earthmoving Mechanic in the Western Cape.
We are looking for an experienced Earthmoving Mechanic to be part of our dynamic team in growing our footprint in the wood chipping industry. This exciting new position has become available largely due to our expanding business and opening of branches both nationally and internationally. This position will be situated in Worcester in the Western Cape; however, it will be expected of you to travel daily.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Completed trade test
- 5(+) years of relevant experience in the trade
- Valid driver’s licence with PDP
Knowledge & Skills
- Technical understanding and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of industrial woodchippers will be to any applicant’s advantage.
- Good verbal communication skills and documentation skills.
- Experience within an earthmoving environment will be beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Determine equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
- Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventative maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades.
- Correct equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies and sub-assemblies.
- Maintain vehicle/equipment records by annotating services and repairs.
- Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies and performing preventive maintenance.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
- Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Responsible for servicing not only the machines of ABC but also of external clients.
- Any reasonable tasks as and when required.
